Ruth Kaplan, DPT

Ruth Kaplan grew up in Western Massachusetts and moved to New Jersey in 2001. She holds a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from Dominican College of Blauvelt in Orangeburg, New York. She has over twenty-five years of clinical experience in various rehabilitation settings. Ruth has pursued continuing education in several areas with a particular  interest in manual therapy. Her primary specialty  is outpatient orthopedics, including treatment of back and neck pain, joint pain, postural dysfunction, ergonomics, fall prevention, gait/balance disorders, decreased functional mobility, and general clinical practice. Robert Piccarillo, PT, DPT

Robert Piccarillo earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2002 from New York University. Upon graduation, he began his career at a specialized sports orthopedic clinic in NYC, where he was fortunate to work with high-level athletes including members of the NY Knicks, the NY Rangers, and dancers with the NY Ballet. He is an accomplished physical therapist with more than 20 years of rehabilitation expertise. He joined the Rothman Institute in 2018 where he had the pleasure to work with a varied patient population as well as with some top surgeons. Rob comes to Progression Physical Therapy with a special interest in working towards “Return to Play” with injured athletes who want to get back to their sport successfully. He has particular expertise in issues affecting runners, fitness athletes, hockey players, soccer players, racket sport players, and dancers. Rob has a deep understanding of pathologies of the knee, shoulder, ankle and hip and he is well educated in Return to Play protocols. Rob is focused on educating each patient, helping them to understand the root causes of their injury. He provides each patient with appropriate corrective actions that can mitigate the issues that cause pain. Rob is passionate about getting each person back to their pre-injury levels of function and is highly skilled at helping patients achieve their goals. Rob is also a serious guitar player and is the father to two teenage boys and a husband to the best wife and veterinarian in the world.

Jill Rea, PT

Physical Therapist

Jill graduated from Boston University in Boston, MA where she received a Masters in Physical Therapy in 2001. She has worked in a variety of settings including acute care, home-care, and outpatient orthopedics. Jill has extensive experience in treating geriatrics, vestibular and balance disorders, orthopedic injury, and holds an LSVT BIG certification for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. In her spare time, Jill enjoys spending time with her family, singing, and running.

Jennifer Ottes, PT

Physical Therapist

Jen graduated from MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, where she received a Masters in Physical Therapy in 2000. Since that time, she has worked in a wide range of settings, including acute care, aquatics, inpatient rehabilitation, and home-care, but has specialized in outpatient orthopedics and sports injury rehabilitation since 2002. Jen continues her professional education with continuing education courses, including the Graston Technique, Kinesio Taping, and various manual therapy courses. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and traveling.

Palak Panchal, PTA

Physical Therapy Assistant

Palak earned a B.S in Exercise Science from Rutgers University and graduated with a Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Essex County College in 2014. Her clinical background includes posts in sub-acute, skilled nursing, and orthopedic outpatient settings. 

Palak is determined to bring any patient back to a life of pain-free functionality using techniques such as myofascial release, soft tissue mobilization, IASTM using Graston tools, or a theragun for a deeper muscle release. She  takes a holistic approach when working with patients, and uncovers how a patient’s environment, mental health, nutrition, and other factors might be affecting their physical recovery. Palak enjoys learning about new treatment techniques and any emerging trends in the physical therapy field. She is also certified in Jikiden Reiki Energy Healing. 

In her free time, Palak spends time with family and friends, stays active through hiking and yoga, and goes to the gym. She also loves learning about wine, meditation, dancing, reading, and movies. 

Evelinia Popa

Certified Medical Biller

Evelenia is a graduate of New York School for Medical Assistants and Administrators. She has over 20 years of experience as a Certified Medical Biller dealing with Medicare/Medicare Secondary and most commercial health insurance companies. She keeps informed with all the insurance policy changes, which occur often in the insurance world. She is pleasant and smart, and her knowledge translates well into her ability to communicate with each patient and their specific health care plan so the necessary treatment can be given without bureaucratic interference.

Kobi Kaplan

Medical Secretary

Kobi is our medical secretary: she processes patient information, manages the office database and patient records, and plays a significant role in organizing the office schedule. She grew up in Princeton and is a graduate of Emory University. She is proficient in conversational Spanish and spent a year in Madrid teaching English. Her hobbies include collaborative storytelling and crochet!

Anthony Carrella

Communications Officer

Anthony joined the Progression PT family in 2019. He is a ministry professional within the Episcopal Church and the PCUSA steering intergenerational education and formation programs. Anthony is a trained artist and multi-disciplinarian; he engages his senses to tell personal and organizational stories through language, music, photography, and painting. When he is not involved in these vocations, you can find Anthony out in the woods or inside of his favorite tea shop. Contact Anthony.

Chrissy Montgomery

Clinical Aide

Christina Montgomery has been working as an aide at Progression Physical Therapy since 2016. She recently graduated from Kean University with a B.S. in Biology. She is energetic and friendly! In her free time Chrissy enjoys running, hiking and rock climbing.
